The following describes Teddy Bear English's current technological approach. As new technologies constantly evolve, we plan to apply the latest and the most appropriate technology.
Intelligent Tutoring System
This term applies to the use of Artificial Intelligence in the flow of a course. An Intelligent Tutoring System is used in the Teddy Bear English's student path. The system identifies problems the student is having and provides special drills which are repeated until the student has mastered them. Studies have shown dramatic increases in learning with the use of intelligent tutoring system.
Intelligent Teaching Assistant
This refers to Teddy Bear's role in the classroom path. Teddy will act as an assistant to the teacher and actively build the role of the teacher in the instruction process while he provides a great deal of instruction and interaction in English.
Personalization
Teddy Bear English has a unique feature that allows the teacher to "personalize" each lesson for the class. This allows Teddy to know where to look at the teacher, if it's morning or afternoon, and even what the weather is like outside.
Speech Recognition
Speech recognition technology will be introduced to the upper level lessons of the program in the student path to help students develop conversation skills. Today's speech recognition technology is not reliable for students below 4th grade with high pitch or unstable voice.
Dual Path
Teddy Bear English is ideal for both individual student use and classroom use because of its "dual path" approach. A student path enables the students to study on their own at home or in the computer lab by interacting directly with the computer. A separate teacher path allows the classroom teacher to conduct a class using the program with a projector or large TV screen. In the classroom path, Teddy becomes the teacher's assistant and engages in a three-way interaction with the teacher and the class.
